Update Q1 2025

Greetings program.

Radio is still on the back burner right now. I am finishing phase one of my doctorate in the fall and hope to be able to get some recreational radio time in after July 4th when my summer classes are done. I am working on rearranging my shop/office/studio/lab squeezing every cubic centimeter for maximum useability with as much space as possible pulling double, or triple duty. It has been a long dance, but I think I am finally getting there. This latest redesign of the layout incorporates some efficiencies that will allow for some radio play time, this includes better access to the 3D printer that has been silent for far too long. Yes, that does have to do with several radio projects I want to start addressing and re-addressing this summer.

Radio projects for this year include:

  • A 35-40′ tower/mast install for VHF/UHF
    • Getting both X-50s back up in the air
      w/ vertical separation
    • Get the RF side of the BPQ node back up
  • Get a new HF station up and running
  • Set up an HP 700/43 dumb term
This would be an old school text mode station
for packet, PSK31, RTTY, NAVTEX, and WEFAX
    • Connect the Kantronics KAM XL
    • Find and set up an Okidata 320 printer

Potential projects

  • Set up a low power full-time APRS station
  • Set up a linked weather station
  • Set up an RF AREDN node
  • Set up a linked camera
